Did you know that one in ten laptops are stolen? Or that computer hard drives fail all the time?
Every year over 52% of computer users lose irreplaceable documents, photos, music and videos, which wouldn't be a problem if they had carried out a regular data backup. We cannot emphasise enough the importance of making regular backups!
We've visited so many people who knew that they should have been backing up their computer/laptop, but didn't and then lost everything when a hard drive failed or was damaged. The cost of retrieving data from a failed hard drive can run into hundreds, so if only for the sake of your bank account, please BACKUP YOUR DATA!
We can help you set up a backup routine, or install and configure backup software for you, if you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself. Contact us on 01206 974675, or at firstname.lastname@example.org, to arrange a visit.
Backup Software - Make Regular Complete System Backups!
Windows 7 and 8 come with their own Backup & Restore utility, although Home Premium doesn't let you backup to external disks. If you don't have the Professional version and want to back up your data externally, or would like a more comprehensive personal backup tool, then we recommend Acronis True Image - it's what we use!
Acronis provides easy-to-use, award-winning disaster recovery, backup and restore, partitioning, boot management, privacy, data migration and other storage management products for enterprises, corporations, and individual consumers. Acronis has won broad industry acclaim for data protection, backup and recovery, system deployment and migration for both physical and virtual servers. Acronis True Image also offers an online backup add-on, for additional protection!
Unlike online backup which tends to cover only data, with a local backup program, you can make a reliable image backup and recover your entire system – email, music, photos, videos, documents, personal settings, bookmarks, and all your programs.
Choose where and how to back up – locally or online. Include your entire system or just specific files.
Recover your complete system or just the files and folders you need quickly and easily, anytime, anywhere.
A full computer image backup is the only way to protect your complete system and be operational immediately after a system/hard drive failure, unlike file and folder only backups where you are required to reinstall Windows, your programs, reconfigure your system and set up everything all over again.
One of the most important things you should do when you get a new computer is to create Windows Recovery Disks! Computers rarely come with copies of Windows on CD/DVD any more and if your system fails you need Recovery Disks to enable you to get into various system tools. Don't wait until it's too late - Recovery disks supplied by manufacturers will cost £30-40!
